Pakistan’s promising wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris has been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan Shaheens for the upcoming ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
The tournament is set to commence in Oman on October 18, with the Shaheens scheduled to depart for Muscat on October 16. Before their departure, the squad will participate in a preparatory camp at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi from October 11 to 15.
The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups, with all matches taking place at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. Group A includes Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka A. Defending champions Pakistan Shaheens are placed in Group B alongside India A, Oman, and UAE.
The Shaheens will face a challenging start to their campaign, taking on last year’s finalists India A in their opening match on October 19. They will then play against hosts Oman on October 21, followed by their final group match against the UAE on October 23. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for October 25, with the final set to take place on October 27.
The Pakistan Shaheens squad is as follows: Mohammad Haris (captain), Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Haseebullah, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Omair Bin Yousuf, Qasim Akram, Shahnawaz Dahani, Sufiyan Moqim, Yasir Khan, and Zaman Khan.
The team management includes Umar Rasheed as head coach-cum-manager, Imran Farhat as batting coach, Riffatullah Mohmand as fielding coach, Usman Hashmi as analyst, and Syed Mohammad Asad as physiotherapist.
