Pakistan Baseball Team Not Allowed to Play U18 Asian Championship Due to Political Roadblocks

The Pakistan National Baseball Team has been stopped by the Pakistan Sports Board from playing in the upcoming BFA U18 Asian Baseball Championships set to take place in Chinese Taipei owing to what are reportedly being termed as “issues related to foreign policy”.

This will come as a tough blow to the sport in the country, especially considering the fact that Pakistani baseball has seen a remarkable rise in recent years despite meager resources.

Not only would this have provided younger talent with a platform to further develop and showcase their skills, but also give them increased exposure internationally despite playing a traditionally overlooked sport in their home country.

Notably, the Pakistan Baseball Federation also tried to participate in the event under the Olympic Flag to ensure participation while sidestepping any political issues.

This method however, has also been blocked by the PSB, who have categorically stated that no member of the baseball team will be allowed to participate, and anyone who tries to depart the country with an intent to do so shall be met with the relevant authorities under the guidance of the FIA.
